Counselling

I am a counsellor who works in a Person-Centred way across Cornwall and into Devon to offer counselling and supervision. I offer a safe and confidential space to talk about anything that concerns you. It could be something that seems huge, perhaps scary and maybe something that you don't want to talk to other people about or it may be a small thing that is on your mind. I'm happy to hear whatever you have to say. I will try to see it from your perspective and to understand your experience. I want to stand by your side. I don't believe that I can solve your problems for you, but I do believe that I can be with you through difficult things and that I am able to offer support whilst you find the answers that are best for you. It is my experience that given the right conditions and support anyone can find their own answers and a way to healing or whatever it is you are looking for.

I currently have use of a room in Liskeard, Bodmin, Padstow (Little Petherick), North Cornwall (Tresparett) and St Austell areas but will travel all over Cornwall and perhaps into Devon. Call or email me if you want to know if I will come to you. I have access to suitable rooms in most towns and will find one if I don't know of one already or may come to your home if you prefer that.

I also offer counselling via internet based video calling.

I have worked with several organisations in the past including Penhaligon's Friends (Bereaved Children), Waves (Domestic Abuse) and YMCA (all issues).

Through my private practice I also have experience of supporting people of all ages with a wide range of issues and difficulties.

I currently work in a local primary school where I support children with issues such as anger, anxiety, loss, friendship difficulties and many more.

Supervision

I feel really passionate about supervision and the benefits that it can offer a counsellor and their clients. I believe that it is a place where you as the counsellor can have your needs met and feel valued whilst also receiving support and supportive challenge in order to continue in the work that you are doing and to grow your practice in ways that suit you and your clients. I believe that it is really useful when we can work together to look to caring for the needs of your clients.

I offer supervision by video calling too. Telephone calling may be possible. Students need to check if these methods are acceptable on their course.

I offer sessions of a length to suit you, to individuals and groups of up to 4. Individual supervision is £35 per hour or £50 for 90 minutes. Group supervision is £25 per person per hour.

I work all over Cornwall and in certain parts of Devon. Call or Email for more details.

Hello!

I want to support and understand you and how things are for you.

Student Placements

If you are currently studying to attain a counselling diploma and would like to work with primary school children near Liskeard please feel free to contact me.

Placement numbers are limited and the placement will run from your start date until the end of the school year regardless of how quickly you achieve your required hours. This is to ensure that the children are supported by the same person for the whole academic year.  If no placement is currently available but I'd like to offer you a place I will offer for the following year. Places will only be reserved for those who are able to commit to coming.

It is likely that you won't be able to count all of the hours you do toward your 100 hour requirement as students generally see 4 clients per week and most diploma courses require that a percentage of your required hours be with adults. You will get plenty of experience and will be fully supported. Current student feedback is that the placement works really well and they love coming.

I will offer you line manager supervision but you will need to find an external supervisor who has experience of working with children.

I will spend time with you so that you understand how our safeguarding policies work and I will fully support your growth in practice whilst working with children. I can't offer training in how to work creatively and through play to help children to explore their issues, however, I believe a lot of people who haven't done specific training in this area have developed these skills through either supporting their own children or through working with children in another capacity. The children you will see will  be assessed and will not be particularly vulnerable. They have a good support network within the school environment so I am happy to discuss the possibility of a placement if you think it might be something you can do.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask me.
